You can attend an Appeal Ready Tour if you are:

  • An appellant (you have received a negative decision on your refugee claim)
  • A refugee claimant waiting for your refugee hearing or decision 
  • A settlement or community worker.

Appeal Ready Tours give you an opportunity to:

  • Meet a staff member of the Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) of the IRB
  • Learn when and how you will need to submit the two parts of your appeal 
  • Hear examples of what should be included in an appeal
  • Learn about the forms that need to be completed in order to file an appeal
  • Ask your questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, if you are not comfortable with English or French, you can ask for an interpreter. We will provide you with an interpreter for free. When you fill out the registration form click “Yes” when it asks “Do you need an interpreter in another language?” Then select your language.

Ready Tours take place online. You don’t need to go to a specific office or place to attend. Ready Tours are held virtually on Microsoft Teams. You will be sent an online meeting link and instructions on how to connect by email before the Ready Tour.

If you have already received a negative decision at your refugee hearing you can attend an Appeal Ready Tour, even if you haven’t attended a Hearing Ready Tour.

If you have not yet had your refugee hearing you should attend a Hearing Ready Tour before attending an Appeal Ready Tour. The Hearing Ready Tour will provide you with important information about your hearing and how to prepare for it. After attending a Hearing Ready Tour you can sign up for an Appeal Ready Tour if you want to learn about the appeal process.
